Stanford University has released its calculation of the ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list for 2024, which includes Dr. Carli Friedman, Director of Research for CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership. The annual ranking highlights leading researchers from throughout the globe. The esteemed designation is the result of Dr. Friedman’s extensive research covering a variety of topics that affect the lives and services of people with disabilities. Stanford University’s internationally-recognized ranking is based on the number of publications and associated citations from top researchers around the world.

The ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list is based on 123 journal publications from Dr. Friedman by 2024, with 2,641 citations of her research. Dr. Friedman’s publications span a diverse set of issues relevant to the human services field for people with disabilities, with an emphasis on people with intellectual, developmental, and psychiatric disabilities. Her research covers topics involving ableism, social determinants of health, social policy, and many other areas, including the relationship between quality of services and quality of life.

The 2024 ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list marks the third consecutive year that Dr. Friedman has been included on the prestigious list. In 2023, she was featured for authoring 111 journal publications, with 2,028 citations. Dr. Friedman was also acknowledged in 2022 with 92 journal publications and 1,448 related citations.
Dr. Friedman is an award-winning researcher, most recently receiving the 2022 Research Award from the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). Throughout her career, she has authored over 420 publications, including 123 peer-reviewed journal articles, 129 knowledge translation research briefs, 121 monographs and technical reports, and 10 book chapters. Dr. Friedman earned her PhD in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
