CQL is excited to continue our Monthly Staff Spotlight series in 2023. This offers an opportunity for you to get to know our team even better! We’ve asked the staff member a series of questions about their history, background, experiences with CQL, as well as some information about them personally. In February 2023, we’re featuring Doris Hayes, one of our Part Time Quality Enhancement Specialists!
What is your position at CQL and what does that role encompass?
I am a part-time Quality Enhancement Specialist. I am fortunate to work with organizations through the CQL accreditation process.
Why did you decide to get involved in the human services field?
In all honesty- I needed a job! My friend talked highly about the organization, so I applied. That was 26 years ago. I fell in love with the people and the drive to help others accomplish their dreams. I enjoy assisting people in breaking down barriers and achieving personal dreams. It is incredible to watch someone accomplish something they never thought they would. Plus, I have learned more from the people I work with than I could ever teach them in my lifetime.
What is your professional history, background, and experience?
My early experience was as a QIDP. I loved everything about that role; the interactions, goal writing, pushing people towards accomplishing dreams and advocating. Since then, I have fulfilled many roles, including Quality Assurance, Director of Day Training, Director of Residential Services, VP of Programs, and now the COO.
What are three skills you have that help you in your work?
- Creativity
- Empathy
- Time Management
Is there anything you would like to share about yourself personally?
I am a wife, sister, aunt, and great-aunt. I enjoy being active such as bike riding, going to the gym, playing golf, walking my dogs, and taking my nieces/nephews to the park. I love vacations. I particularly love beach vacations and visit at least one beach each year. Sitting on the beach with sand between my toes is the most relaxing thing I can do.
