Eliciana Caro: December Monthly Staff Spotlight

CQL is thrilled to continue our Monthly Staff Spotlight series! This is a chance for us to highlight our staff members and for you to learn about our team. For our December article, we’re featuring Eliciana Caro, CQL Quality Enhancement Specialist.

Lindsey Moore, CQL Project Coordinator, nominated Eliciana for this spotlight and was excited to share more about working with her. “Eliciana joined CQL in mid-2025. She has brought a wealth of knowledge from her experience managing, developing, and facilitating innovative training curriculum. This included being a certified POM trainer.” Lindsey continued, “Within her short time with us, she has brought this knowledge to many providers and colleagues, as well as to enhance a state-wide training curriculum project. We look forward to her future contributions!”

We’ve asked Eliciana a series of questions about her history, background, experiences with CQL, as well as some questions to get to know her better.

What is your position at CQL and what does that role encompass?

My position with CQL is Part Time Quality Enhancement Specialist. In this role, I partner with organization in the accreditation process!

Tell us a bit about your professional background. What lead you to the human services field?

I love people and having a positive impact in the community! I have worked throughout New York City to support the ID/DD community since 1997. I am experienced working with people considered “minorities.” My career began with case management for about 14 years. In an effort to diversify my skill set, I transitioned to staff and management training in 2012.

I have also worked as a Direct Support Professional in residential, respite, recreation, and community habilitation settings throughout the years. I am currently a subject matter expert with the Regional Centers for Workforce Transformation. We are a team of passionate professionals committed to making information available and accessible to empower people in the workforce. In 2024, I became the Chief Executive at E-quality Maximus LLC, where I specialize in supporting organizations by providing quality training to staff on various levels and topics.

What are skills you have that help you in your work?

  3. Love for travel!

Is there anything you would like to share about yourself personally?

I am a tree hugger. 🌴 I am a New Yorker, born and raised. My parents are both originally from Colombia. I am proud of my rich heritage and indigenous roots! 🇨🇴

Name one thing on your bucket list.

Growing my own food. From seed to the table. 👩‍🌾

Describe one trick you use to stay productive.

I take walks, move by body and stretch. Also use aromatherapy such as Rosemary or Peppermint oil!

Who is a person that inspires you? Why?

I am deeply inspired by Harriet Tubman because of her courage, love of freedom and networking abilities.

Where is a somewhere you’d like to visit?

I would like to visit the Fiji Islands!

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given or read?

“Always choose quality over quantity.” My father taught me this from a young age.

What is one thing about you that most people wouldn’t be able to guess?

I am a birth doula. And have supported several women through the birth process.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child, I wanted to be an astronaut and a veterinarian!

What three words would your family/friends use to describe you?

Funny, Adventurous, and “Solid”!

What do you like to do for fun, in your free time?

I love to ride my bike, birdwatch and catch up with friends and family!

What fictional world would you want to live in? Why?

Gilligans Island- It was so beautiful there. I would just have to relax and make the best out of being stranded! 🏝️

What is your least favorite household chore?

Laundry!
