Is it a conference? Nope. Is it kind of like a conference? Nah. What is it then? It’s definitely not a conference. Buckle up for an engaging, immersive, and interactive learning experience. It’s the encore of the CQL Un-Conference: Roadmap To A Good Life, where participants get in the driver’s seat and navigate best practices in supporting people to lead meaningful, fulfilling lives of their choosing. This 1-day in-person event features a bunch of 15-minute micro-presentations, plenty of facilitated group discussions, an amazing panel of people with disabilities who receive services, along with tons of tangible, practical, actionable takeaways. With this event, we’re steering the traditional conference right off a cliff.
About The Event
In the CQL Un-Conference: Roadmap To A Good Life, we’re exploring a variety of quality-of-life areas that encompass a good life including community participation, self-determination, relationships, independence, and more. In each micro-presentation, we’re cruising through each of those different areas, sharing what they entail, why they’re important, how they impact people, and where to turn for resources and innovative approaches. After each micro-presentation, you’ll take part in brainstorming and idea-swapping with fellow attendees. Then at the end of the event, we’ll ‘carpool’ our discoveries, plot out best practices, and find a clearer path forward for supporting people to live a good life!

There are important distinctions between this in-person ‘un-conference’ event and a traditional conference style event:
- To create a more collaborative and intimate atmosphere among participants, there will not be typical conference components such as keynote addresses, breakout sessions, exhibiting areas, etc.
- The day is going to be highly interactive. There will be discussions, activities, networking, idea-sharing, and more! We strongly encourage you to register for the event, only if you are interested in this interactive environment.
- You will have opportunities to move around and get to know plenty of new folks as you switch the table where you are sitting a few times during the day. This is a great chance to talk with different people and gain a variety of perspectives.
To make the event as cost-effective as possible for attendees, CQL will not be providing meals, rather offering coffee, tea, water, and light snacks throughout the day. The venue does allow attendees to bring their own personal beverages and snacks if that is something that will enhance your experience, and/or help you to meet any specific dietary requirements.
Lunch will be on your own and we’re excited to share that there are a number of food options within a short walking/driving distance from the venue. You will have 1.5 hours for a lunch break, so you will have enough time to enjoy your lunch. Here are just a handful of lunch options available near the venue:
- Vallarta Mexican Restaurant
- Aunt Effie’s Restaurant
- Rafael’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant
- Jefferson’s
- McDonald’s
- Pizza Hut
There are many more restaurant options you can find by searching online. A great idea would be to check out the options and make a decision about your restaurant before the event to maximize the amount of time for lunch.
If you are flying in from out-of-state for the event, the closest major airport is the Chattanooga Airport (CHA), which is 14 miles away from Ringgold, GA. If you are driving into the event, there is a parking lot at the Patriot Hall venue.
