To explore where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live, and their experiences in those settings, CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership has partnered with The Arc on the project, ‘There’s No Place Like Home: A National Study on IDD Housing.’
This research project resulted in a full technical report, multiple fact sheets, and an informational video to help increase knowledge of housing decision-making and identify barriers to housing decision-making and community relocation for people with IDD.
About The National Housing Study Technical Report
CQL and The Arc have authored a technical report that not only details the data and resulting analysis from the study, but also a number of recommendations for providing choices, options, and opportunities involving housing and community living.
National Online Survey
The first part of this study included a national online survey of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and family members of people with IDD. The survey included both quantitative and qualitative items.
Group Activities
The second part of this study included in-person nominal group technique (NGT) sessions across Illinois. NGT includes structured brainstorming like a focus group, except it is more inclusive, accessible, and collaborative.
About The Arc
The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
