In a national housing study about decision-making, we asked participants about how important being included in the community is to them. The study included 726 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) and family members. This fact sheet provides an overview of our findings from the study regarding this topic.

About The National Housing Survey

To explore where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live, and their experiences in those settings, CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership has partnered with The Arc on the project, ‘There’s No Place Like Home: A National Study on IDD Housing.’

This research project resulted in a full technical report, multiple fact sheets, and an informational video to help increase knowledge of housing decision-making and identify barriers to housing decision-making and community relocation for people with IDD.

About The Arc

The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
