Ableism and racism are connected. Oppression and discrimination interact. There’s a relationship between attitudes regarding race and disability. This is the foundation for intersectionality. But what exactly is intersectionality? Why is this topic so important? How does it impact the lives of people with disabilities?

In this free webinar, Ableism, Racism, And Intersectionality, And Their Implications For Health Care, CQL’s Director of Research Dr. Carli Friedman shares findings about the intersectionality of ableism and racism. You’ll learn how attitudes about disability and race affect disabled people in everyday life. We’ll also specifically look at the attitudes of healthcare professionals, and what their thoughts and feelings mean for disabled patients’ healthcare. Chester Finn, a nationally-recognized disability rights activist, will provide real-world perspective about the implications of bias on disabled people. He will also detail the existence of that bias among healthcare professionals, and the impact on healthcare services.

The research project, including this webinar, is made possible through grant funding by the WITH Foundation.

CQL will be using Zoom’s built-in live transcription (closed captioning) features during the webinar. If you need any additional reasonable accommodations, you can share those in the registration form. Any requests need to be submitted at least two weeks prior to the date of the webinar.
